A Mother’s Love

Spend some time in my barn during lambing season, and you will discover the wonders of a mother’s love. 

From the moment of birth, mama tends to her little lambs. She cleans them, nickers to them, encouraging them to nurse. 

 During those first days after birth, mama never leaves her lamb’s side. She draws them close their first days in this world.

 Protecting her lamb from curious ewes in the flock, mama positions herself between her lamb and other ewes. Mama makes it clear that no one will push her lamb around.

Mama nourishes her lambs, calling them to her side to nurse. She nudges their tails to reassure them, and to encourage them to suckle, her milk dribbling from the corners of their mouths.

Mama teaches her lambs all they need to know to survive in this world,

and entertains her lamb’s antics, ever patient and never angry.

Lambs rest peacefully under their mama’s care and protection, growing strong in body and confident in life.

Nothing can compare to the wonder of a mother’s love- the countless hours she gives to her young, the unswerving commitment and sacrifice, and the unconditional love and adoration.
